Forum on Smart Manufacturing and Quality Development in Yangtze River Delta Successfully Concluded!

This time, the E-class took a look at Haitian Group located in Ningbo, focusing on the topic of Intelligent Manufacturing and High-Quality Development in Yangtze River Delta. We have invited Prof. Shi Qian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of School of Economics and Management of Tongji University, Mr. Yu Wenxian, Assistant President of Ningbo Haitian Group, Prof. Hao Yongtao from School of Electronic and Information Engineering of Tongji University, Prof. Wang Hongwei from School of Economics and Management of Tongji University, Mr. Gao Shiquan, Director of Technology Department of Ningbo Haitian Group and MBA alumnus of our school, and Mr. Xu Qiliang, Director of Ningbo Talent Training Center, Mr. Ye Jingbo, President Assistant and Director of Market Application Center of Haitian Plastics Machinery and alumnus of our EMBA program, and Mr. Hong Junpei, Purchasing Director of Haitian Plastics Machinery Group and alumnus of our EMBA program. Also, there were more than 60 audience including young reserve cadres of Haitian Group and working staff of Ningbo Talent Training Center.

This E-class was presided over by Zhou Anyuan. He said that this lecture was the first attempt of Tongji University to go out of its campus and Shanghai, into Ningbo and into Haitian Group. In the whole Yangtze River Delta, Ningbo is a very dynamic city, and the Haitian Group, a distinctive representative in the Yangtze River Delta region, is also an enterprise with dynamism. This discussion starts from Haitian Group's intelligent manufacturing industry to explore the relationship and future drivers of intelligent manufacturing and the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta.

Mr. Yu Wenxian, Assistant President of Ningbo Haitian Group

Firstly, Mr. Yu Wenxian gave us a keynote speech on the case of intelligent manufacturing in the internal industrial ecological chain of the enterprise. Intelligent manufacturing has a wide range of needs within the enterprise as well as in the upstream and downstream ones. Haitian Group is keen to seize this opportunity to expand and deepen the industrial field, for growing together with the domestic manufacturing.

Prof. Hao Yongtao from School of Electronic and Information Engineering of Tongji University

Under the title of "New Mode of Innovative Industrial Development of World Intelligent Manufacturing Megatrend” and with a profound theoretical foundation, Professor Hao Yongtao made a prospective discussion on the future innovative industrial development model based on the global situation and the trend of intelligent manufacturing. Although the 21^st century has witnessed the revolutionary progress of the global manufacturing, the energy crisis, ecological crisis, financial crisis and economic crisis are reminding people that the industrial system still needs continuous innovation. China's manufacturing industry is huge but not strong enough, and the strategy should focus on the two ends of the smiling curve, which are R&D and Design and Marketing and Service, while put an emphasis on added value of products. Therefore, we should accelerate the transformation from Industry 3.0 to Industry 4.0. In this context, big data for manufacturing in the era of Internet+ has become key resources for the transformation of the manufacturing industry.

Prof. Wang Hongwei from School of Economics and Management of Tongji University

Professor Wang Hongwei discussed the relationship between the Internet and the transformation of manufacturing industry from the perspective of management. The social significance of Internet is to reshape the production structure, social structure, knowledge system and governance system. And at the micro level, it also changes the business rules, that is, the operating rules of traditional enterprises. In fact, Internet has become a platform for inter-enterprise collaboration and innovation and resource sharing, an important tool to optimize business process and improve operational efficiency, a key support for service model innovation, and an integrated innovation system that crosses enterprise boundaries and transforms the enterprise ecological system. The integration of the Internet and the manufacturing industry has already begun.

After the keynote speech, guests continued to discuss the topic of Intelligent Manufacturing and the High-Quality Development of Yangtze River Delta in the roundtable discussion.

Government, schools, enterprises should make joint efforts to consider and explore from diverse perspective the development of manufacturing industry and planning for the transformation and application of intelligent manufacturing. During the four decades of China's reform and opening up, we have witnessed the growth of the manufacturing industry from small to large and many outstanding manufacturing enterprises and entrepreneurs, among which the Haitian Group is a leader. The high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta cannot be separated from the support of manufacturing industries. In this process, the Haitian Group has stimulated both local economic development and regional economic development, and to some extent also promoted the high-quality development of intelligent manufacturing in the Yangtze River Delta.
